Overview

Hispanic family caregivers play a significant role in supporting loved ones living with dementia, often while navigating substantial financial, emotional, and logistical strain. Out-of-pocket caregiving expenses, reduced work hours, and difficulty navigating available resources can place significant pressure on families and contribute to psychological distress.

The Confidently Navigating Financial Decisions and Enhancing Financial Wellbeing in Dementia Caregiving (CONFIDENCE) program is a culturally tailored psychoeducational intervention designed to reduce financial strain among Hispanic family caregivers. Delivered in English and Spanish, the five-week program combines practical financial problem-solving with support for the emotional impacts of financial strain.

Through group education, peer discussion, resource navigation, and workbook-based learning, caregivers receive guidance on out-of-pocket costs, employment challenges, financial and long-term care planning, and available community resources. The program emphasizes cultural relevance, plain language, real-life applicability, and recognition of the broader systems that shape caregivers’ financial experiences.
