Stephanie Terauchi, MD, MBA, FAAHPM

Stephanie Terauchi, MD, FAAHPM, is the Health System Chair of Palliative Medicine for Ochsner Health, where she provides strategic leadership for palliative care services across Louisiana and the Gulf South region. She is dedicated to advancing equitable access to high-quality serious illness care through clinical excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, education, research, and health system innovation.

Dr. Terauchi earned her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Prior to joining Ochsner Health, Dr. Terauchi served as Medical Director of Palliative Care for Texas Oncology Physician Associates in North Texas, where she specialized in comprehensive palliative care for patients with cancer and worked to expand access to palliative care services throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth community. Before Texas Oncology, she was the Medical Director of Palliative Care at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she developed and led a program that nearly tripled in size during her eight-year tenure.

A recognized leader, educator, and advocate in the field of palliative medicine, Dr. Terauchi is passionate about improving the care of individuals living with serious illness. Her work focuses on advancing palliative care through health system transformation, workforce development, research, and community engagement to reduce healthcare disparities and improve quality of life for patients and families.
