Anjali Grandhige, MD

After graduating from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Grandhige pursued her Internal Medicine training at OHSU in Portland, Oregon. She worked as a hospitalist for UPMC in Pittsburgh and Boston Medicine Center before deciding to pursue a palliative medicine fellowship at Emory University from 2011 to 2012.

Dr. Grandhige became an Assistant Professor of Medicine and the Site Director for the Palliative Medicine program at Emory University Hospital Midtown before joining Wellstar Health System in 2016.

In 2018, she became the Acute Care Director over inpatient palliative medicine at Wellstar, overseeing programs at Kennestone, Cobb, Douglas, Paulding, North Fulton, Windy Hill, and West Georgia hospitals.

In 2023, she was named the System Medical Director for Wellstar Palliative Medicine, supporting inpatient and outpatient teams comprising 24 physicians, 13 nurse practitioners, and 6 social workers.

Her mission is to educate patients and providers on the benefits of palliative medicine to support quality of life at any stage of a serious illness. The goal is to empower patients not to be defined by their disease, but to remain seen and heard for who they are as individuals, and to make health care choices that align with their values.

She lives in Decatur, GA, with her 3 dogs, an amazing spouse, and two of the best children a mother could ask for, and she can fold the heck out of a fitted sheet.
