Today, more health care is delivered by for-profit organizations than at any other time in U.S. history. After taking this course, learners will be able to describe the scope of for-profit and investor-owned organizations across the segments of health care delivery, explain why investors are attracted to health care, and consider the pros and cons of profit incentives in this industry.

  2. Explain why health care is a desirable market for investors
  3. Summarize the impact of private investment on hospitals, physician practices, hospices, Medicare Advantage, and patient care in the U.S.
