A Telenovela-Based Education Intervention to Support Latino Family Caregivers
John Hopkins University
Summary
Caregivers Like Me is a bilingual, culturally tailored educational program designed to support Latino family caregivers caring for loved ones with serious illness. Using a telenovela-style video that reflects real-life caregiving experiences, the intervention helps caregivers better understand palliative care, hospice, caregiver stress, and available support services. Developed in response to caregiver-identified needs, the program combines storytelling, guided discussion, and practical education to increase awareness, reduce misconceptions about end-of-life care, and empower families to make informed decisions while honoring the cultural values and caregiving traditions that are central to many Latino communities.
