December 6, 2018 | By CAPC Staff

In this Program Spotlight, Dr. Wendy L. Knowlton of Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, discusses her personal experience of burnout, several years out of fellowship. While the circumstances were exhausting, she shares how this experience has helped her throughout her career—including in her current role as a medical director—effectively lead by identifying and helping others avoid burnout. Additionally, Dr. Knowlton offers solutions for gaining and maintaining leadership support, and explains the benefits of having a dyad partner for effective leadership.

"I realized that I was doing too much, and I was doing it by myself. What saved me were the people around me, who helped me emotionally."
