In this Program Spotlight, Dr. Parag Bharadwaj, Chief of Palliative Care Medicine at Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA, discusses his approach to recruiting and hiring the right staff, and the importance of being transparent during the interview process. Dr. Bharadwaj also shares some of his tips for keeping staff engaged for the long term, including providing the right training during onboarding; having open and candid conversations with his teams during regular meetings; and creating a work environment where self-preservation is a priority (one of his teams meets for lunch every day, which distracts them from their routine and gives them a mental break).
