HELP Committee to Hold Hearing on Health Workforce Bill
On July 19, the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) published a notice that it will be holding a full committee hearing on a new health care workforce bill. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) introduced the Primary Care and Health Workforce Expansion Act, which would provide $20 billion over a five-year period to bolster the workforce. It includes many of the provisions contained in the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA, S. 2243), as well as investments in the Direct Care Workforce, National Health Services, Corps, Graduate Medical Education, and additional areas. The HELP Committee hearing will take place on Wednesday, July 26 at 10:30 am ET.
