Rima Itani Al-Nimr, MS, RD, LD
As Director, Clinical Education, Ms. Al-Nimr is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of CAPC's large portfolio of clinical education materials, including online courses and tools that have helped train more than 150,000 clinicians in the United States.
A specialist in adult learning strategies with extensive experience in medical and graduate education, Ms. Al-Nimr comes to CAPC from The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Hanover, NH, where she created and directed the Nutrition in Medical Education curriculum. This innovative program has been featured in peer reviewed journals and at national conferences. At Geisel, Ms. Al-Nimr was also a member of the Health Equity integration group, helping formulate equitable language instruction guidelines. Prior to joining Dartmouth, she taught at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH and was involved in pioneering the Nutrition Department’s remote education platform.
As a licensed and registered dietitian with decades of clinical experience at both urban and rural teaching hospitals, Ms. Al-Nimr has cared for a vast array of patients and research participants with serious illnesses in the areas of maternal-fetal medicine, oncology, intensive care, transplant surgery, geriatric medicine, and obesity medicine. As a clinician, she understands that palliative care alleviates suffering and improves quality of life for patients and caregivers, while simultaneously reducing burnout and enhancing work satisfaction for healthcare providers. She was a member of the Evidence Analysis Library National Taskforce on Malnutrition in Pregnancy and part of a National Institutes of Health and National Institute on Aging K23 grant on the treatment of obesity in rural older adults, with many publications in the field.
Ms. Al-Nimr obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon and her Master of Science in Nutrition from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH, where she completed her dietetic internship. Her work in medical education has garnered several awards, including the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine Department of Nutrition Outstanding Alumni Award and the Geisel School of Medicine Dartmouth Distinguished Course Director Preclinical Teaching Award.
