*THIS HYBRID INPATIENT/OUTPATIENT POSITION HAS AN ANTICIPATED START DATE OF 9/1/2027.*
Job Description/Features:
• Provide direct clinical care on an inpatient consultative service to patients across specialties in a 700+ bed teaching hospital and at a 130-bed community hospital; responsibilities include clarifying goals of care, advanced symptom management, and counseling patients/families/providers on what to expect at end of life
• Provide direct clinical care in an embedded supportive oncology clinic at a free-standing Cancer Center at least 1 day per week.
• Opportunities for program development, including: building/enhancing a palliative care program at a community hospital, expanding outpatient palliative medicine presence, starting a palliative medicine fellowship
• Supervise and teach students, residents, and fellows rotating through the palliative medicine division; prepare and deliver lectures to learners at all levels of training
• Participate in efforts to improve primary palliative care throughout the medical center
• Actively engage in service to and quality improvement efforts within the division, department, and medical center
• Pursue academic projects guided by one’s own clinical questions and interests
• Opportunity to engage in clinical research

Position Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited medical school (MD/DO)
• Fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine
• BE/BC in related field (internal medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, etc.) and BE/BC in hospice and palliative medicine; BE physicians are required to sit for and pass their boards at the earliest date possible
• Unrestricted New York State medical license and valid DEA license
• ACLS/BLS certification
• Experience working on an interdisciplinary team, with excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
• Outstanding teaching skills
• Interest in working with a wide range of stakeholders and disciplines to improve primary palliative care
