Description
The Department of Internal Medicine of the University of Michigan Health System invites applications from qualified gerontologists and/or palliative medicine experts to lead its Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine. The Division Chief position is a full-time appointment reporting directly to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine. This highly ranked division is comprised of roughly 45 faculty members, has robust NIH- and VA-funded research programs and operates a strong academic fellowship training program. Responsibilities include overseeing clinical care delivery, promoting and building divisional research activities, and engaging in the training and professional development of students, house officers, fellows, and junior faculty. Candidates must have an M.D., or equivalent degree, M.D./Ph.D., and be eligible for appointment as a tenured associate or full professor at the University of Michigan. Medical board-certification is required, and training in Geriatric Medicine and/or Hospice and Palliative Medicine is preferred. Desired qualifications include collaborative leadership and administrative experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, established track record in directing an active research program, and proven mentorship ability.
