University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Palliative Care Physician Educator Position
If you are interested in working in one of the leading Sections of Palliative Care and Medical Ethics, we have the job for you. We are recruiting physician-educators starting July 2026.
You will be joining a large group of faculty and clinicians who are passionate about teaching learners of all types, providing excellent patient care and advancing palliative care research. We work hard to create a collaborative, diverse, and inclusive environment that provides ample opportunity for professional development. Helping our entire faculty and all our trainees identify and achieve their professional goals is a top priority.
The group has a large presence at UPMC Presbyterian, UPMC Shadyside, UPMC Mercy, and UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, as well as outpatient clinics throughout the area. Our team consists of physicians, advanced practice providers, a pharmacist, social workers, a psychiatrist, and music therapists/counselors - all of whom have expertise in palliative care.
We are actively leading efforts aimed at improving diversity and equity in academic medicine and medical education both within the Section and the School of Medicine.
Position responsibilities include:
-Attending on the hospital-based palliative consult service
-Outpatient opportunities in the office and community
-Developing innovative programs with specialties such as neurology, pulmonary and hepatology
-Teaching at all levels of medical education including medical students, residents, and fellows
Candidates must have board certification or board eligibility in palliative medicine.
