Description

The Palliative Care Practice of MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG) is seeking palliative care physicians to join our rapidly growing team. There are palliative care physician needs across the MaineHealth system in various locations and settings. We are seeking physician support at Maine Medical Center (MMC) in Portland, the freestanding palliative care outpatient clinic in Scarborough, inpatient and outpatient settings at Lincoln and Mid Coast Hospital, and outreach clinics to rural hospitals in the mountain region of Western Maine. Candidates must be BC/BE in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

These positions are part of an effort to increase access to specialty palliative care across MaineHealth Medical Group. We are also developing a home-based palliative care program. Working together with an interdisciplinary team, the MHMG Palliative Care Practice is poised to meet the increasing demand for high quality specialty palliative care across MaineHealth. The interdisciplinary team is committed to providing exceptional patient and family-centered care and maintaining a supportive and collaborative practice environment.

Maine Medical Center is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and Level One Trauma Center with 700 licensed beds. At MMC, you have the benefit of an academic environment with an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine. Teaching opportunities are available in Maine Medical Center’s Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program, which trains two fellows per year. There are opportunities for rural care and outreach clinics, oversight of home-based palliative care, and providing continuity by following patients and families through various settings of care throughout their serious illness.
