Supportive Oncology and Palliative Care Physician

Due to continued clinical growth, the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is seeking applicants for a full-time Supportive Oncology and Palliative Care faculty position. The candidate should have clinical experience in cancer pain management and palliative care, excellent communication skills, and an interest in collaborative or clinical research in symptom management and patient-physician communication. Faculty appointment at the level of Assistant/Associate or Professor is available depending on qualifications.
Candidates should have an MD, DO, or MD/PhD and be Board Certified/Eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine; Board Certification/Eligibility in Hematology or Oncology or prior experience working at a cancer center is desirable but not necessary. The preferred applicant will provide inpatient and outpatient consultation services in collaboration with the palliative care interdisciplinary team, expert assessment and treatment of complex symptoms associated with cancer and its treatments, facilitate and coordinate care across the cancer continuum of care, including transitions to hospice care, communicate and collaborate with referring hematology and oncology providers regarding plan of care and participate in interdisciplinary palliative care team meetings.
The candidate will be involved in integrating the SOPC program at the Medical Oncology clinic at the TUHS campus and will collaborate with medical oncology faculty to promote the efforts directed at developing outpatient supportive oncology efforts in the urban.
The preferred candidate possesses both outpatient experience in an academic medical center and demonstrates experience in an active program of translational research that focuses on generating new knowledge in one or more of the following areas or approaches:
• Science of symptom management
• Policy/leadership/health systems change;
• Population health;
• Assist in the development of Palliative care standards of care, quality improvement, and educational initiatives
