The Division of General Internal Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, is seeking a Research Assistant Professor for the Palliative Care Research Center. The qualified candidate will be responsible for overseeing all scientific aspects of palliative care research under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Director and will serve as the lead and, in some cases, Co-Investigator for grants and projects conducted within the Palliative Research Center (PaRC). This includes but is not limited to: drafting and submitting applications for funding, including NIH and foundation grants; developing or revising both quantitative and qualitative research design/methodologies used in PaRC scientific research projects; and first-authoring publications based on existing data. In addition, the candidate will form and maintain key relationships throughout the University of Pittsburgh, UPMC, the Hillman Cancer Center, and the Palliative Care Research community nationally, identifying opportunities for collaboration and dissemination of research findings. Finally, the ideal candidate will assume delegated responsibilities for the PI/PaRC Director when she is not available. Candidates should have at least a Ph.D. and 3 to 5 years of experience as health services researchers. Candidates should have experience with qualitative data analysis and/or mixed methods, excellent scientific writing and organizational skills, and at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal based on original and/or secondary analysis data.
