Outpatient Palliative Care in Tennessee
Univeristy of Tennesse Medical Center
Knoxville, TN, United States
University Palliative Care at the University of Tennessee Medical Center (581 beds) seeks experienced physician candidates for a full time clinical palliative care position, primarily focused in outpatient palliative medicine with some shared call for the inpatient palliative care consultation service and intermittent teaching duties.
This outpatient physician will provide direct patient care at the UTMC Cancer Institute, with a focus on patients with cancer diagnoses and planned program expansion into non-cancer diagnoses such as heart failure, advanced lung disease, and end-stage renal disease. As part of a growing virtual visit program, the physician will also complete telemedicine visits for seriously ill patients in their home. While primary responsibility will be in the outpatient setting, the physician will have the opportunity to practice inpatient palliative medicine as part of a large interdisciplinary consult team at the adjoined University of Tennessee Medical Center.
The successful candidate will also be eligible for appointment in the non-tenure academic clinician track as a core faculty member in palliative care. Many opportunities exist for direct teaching and curriculum design for medical students, residents, and fellows.
Applicants must have an M.D. or D.O. Board certification or eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is required. Fellowship training in Hospice and Palliative Medicine is strongly preferred. Experience in the provision of outpatient palliative care is preferred.
We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
