Palliative Care Provider
October 30, 2019
Cumming, GA, United States
Northside Hospital is expanding its inpatient palliative care program to better meet the needs of the community. In 2011, a Palliative Care Program was established at Northside Hospital as part of the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute's (NHCI) selection into the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Community Cancer Centers Program. As such, the Palliative Care Program was limited to oncology patients. Following the end of NCCCP, Northside became the only hospital in metro-Atlanta to earn the NCORP designation, indicating a continued commitment to cancer care. In addition to supporting the NHCI, the inpatient palliative care program has played an important role for Northside non-oncology patient base as well. The palliative care team consists of social workers and nurse practitioners, and works closely alongside oncology, pulmonology, cardiology, and critical care.
