The full-time Research Scientist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of palliative care research under the direction of the Principal Investigator/Director and will serve as a consultant for scientific research conducted within the Palliative Research Center (PaRC). Responsibilities will include drafting and submitting applications for funding, including NIH and foundation grants; developing or revising research methodologies used in PaRC scientific research projects; and first-authoring publications based on existing data from two large NCI-funded R01 grants. In addition, the research scientist will be expected to form and maintain key relationships throughout the University of Pittsburgh, the Hillman Cancer Center, and the palliative care research community nationally, identifying opportunities for collaboration and dissemination of research findings. This position requires a doctoral degree with three years of research experience. Ideal candidates will have a Doctoral degree (PhD or ScD) in a health-related field and 3 years of research experience. Specifically, candidates must have experiences with complex data analysis and excellent writing and organizational skills. Past experience with scientific writing and at least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal based on original data is required.
