Palliative Care Physician - Inpatient

May 13, 2019

Penn Medicine
Philadelphia, PA, United States

The Palliative Care Team at Pennsylvania Hospital is looking for an inpatient palliative care physician to add to a growing and dynamic interdisciplinary program. The successful candidate will provide direct palliative care consultation and palliative care education. The team is extensively involved in teaching and curriculum development for medical residents and learners from other disciplines, as well as innovative palliative care quality improvement initiatives for non-palliative care clinicians in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. If the candidate desires, the opportunity to practice hospital medicine also exists.

Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH), the nation's first hospital, is a 515-bed acute care facility that provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic medical services and functions as a major teaching and clinical research institution. It is part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System and is located at 8th and Spruce Streets in the historic Society Hill district of Philadelphia.

PAH serves a diverse community and our palliative care population includes virtually all medical populations except trauma and transplant medicine. The inpatient palliative care program at PAH is a well-established, stable, and respected team that delivers innovative, high quality person and family centered palliative care. The current team includes three part-time physicians, two full time nurse practitioners, and a full time social worker. Staff are supported and encouraged to participate in the extensive continuing medical education and professional growth opportunities that exist through the University of Pennsylvania’s broader palliative care community.
