The Division of Hematology-Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. Applicants must be board certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine and have demonstrated skills in program development.

The successful candidates will have a track record in clinical research and clinical care to provide palliative care consultation for cancer patients in close partnership with each patient’s oncology team. The Director of Oncology Palliative Care will also lead the Supportive and Palliative Oncology Clinic within the Abramson Cancer Center, with responsibility for growth, and strategic initiatives. The Director will partner with leadership in the Division of Hematology and Oncology and the Cancer Service Line to lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving end-of-life outcomes for cancer patients throughout Penn Medicine. The successful candidate will have strong background and interest in education to further the Division’s commitment to equip front-line oncology clinicians with basic palliative care skills in serious illness communication and symptom management. The Director of Oncology Palliative Care will participate fully in both the Division of Hematology Oncology and the Palliative Care Program, with dual reporting to the Chief of Hematology Oncology and the Chief of Palliative Care. Opportunities for research exist and will be supported for candidates with a proven track record in scholarship. Applicants with a background in internal medicine and/or oncology are preferred.
