Community-Based Support for Hispanic/Latino Families After Childhood Cancer

Childhood cancer can have lasting effects on families long after treatment ends, particularly for Hispanic/Latino families living in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged communities. Through conversations with adolescent and young adult survivors, parents, and staff from a community-based organization in rural California, health care teams found that language barriers, limited resources, and challenges navigating the health care system contribute to ongoing disparities in survivorship support. This intervention underscore that culturally responsive, community-based support can help address unmet needs, improve access to resources, and reduce disparities in survivorship care for underserved communities.
