Why Should a Neurosurgeon Attend a Palliative Care Conference, Anyway?
Joseph Stern, MD, wrote a piece in the Journal of Palliative Medicine, explaining why it's important for physicians across all specialties to receive training in core palliative care skills. He recapped some of the things that he learned in training, what drove him to seek the training, and how his practice is forever changed. Per Dr. Stern, "Our current models for health care delivery are fragmented. I should be well versed in the skills of palliative medicine, as these are skills I must master to be an effective physician."
