New Medicare Alternative Payment Models for Hospice and Palliative Care Programs
On October 24, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) released new details on the Primary Care First (PCF) model through a Request for Applications (RFA). This new model includes an option specifically designed to improve care for Medicare beneficiaries living with serious illness through innovative payment mechanisms and quality measures selected for this population. CMMI credits the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) and the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) with informing the development of this option and encourages hospice and palliative care programs to apply.
