Utilization of Palliative Care in Veterans Admitted With Heart Failure Experiencing Homelessness
In a study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management (JPSM), Annie Laure Gula, MD, et al. sought to determine if housing insecurity is associated with palliative care encounters for patients with heart failure, who receive care in Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers. The authors found that patients experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness were significantly less likely to receive palliative care services than those with stable housing.
