Using Effective Communication Strategies to Address Health Disparities and Improve Patient Experience
Last week, Brittany Chambers, MPH, MCHES, CAPC's director of health equity and special initiatives, was published on The Beryl Institute's blog on bridging health care disparities, providing recommendations for clinicians, health care leaders, and more. In the blog post, Brittany addresses how effective communication between patients and their clinicians is linked to greater satisfaction, increased understanding of treatment options, and improved outcomes. "For those with a serious illness, when clinicians explore and validate the disease and illness experience of the patient and encourage patient involvement in the dialogue, this can lead to better relationships and better patient experience."
