The Nephrologist’s Responsibility for Advance Care Planning
In a recent opinion article published in Kidney Medicine, Ramer SJ and Koncicki HM discuss the importance of advance care planning with patients, beyond kidney replacement therapy (KRP) planning for patients living with kidney disease. The authors talk about the role that nephrologists should have in advance care planning, the need to improve communication skills, and the opportunities for partnership with primary care providers and palliative care teams.
