The Landscape of Outpatient Pediatric Palliative Care: A National Cross-Sectional Assessment
Inpatient pediatric palliative care has grown substantially over the past 20 years; however, the outpatient setting remains underdeveloped. Outpatient pediatric palliative care offers opportunities to improve access and facilitate care coordination and transitions for children with serious illness. A study in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management found that although outpatient pediatric services have institutional support and diverse referral indications from multiple subspecialties, resources remain limited.
