Race Differences in Quality of Life after Palliative Care Intervention for Advanced Heart Failure
In an article published in the Journal of Palliative Medicine, Rachel S. Tobin, MD, et al., sought to assess the benefits of palliative care for Black patients with advanced heart failure (HF), given the higher incidence of HF and poorer outcomes among this patient population. Using data from the PAL-HF cohort, the authors compared the effectiveness of a palliative care intervention in improving quality of life (QoL) in both Black and white patients. They found that QoL improved for both populations, but the difference was greater for Black patients.
