With the changing landscape of lung cancer therapeutics, patients are facing new and different challenges, which palliative care clinicians can address.

In an article published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, authors Jennifer S. Temel, MD, et al. discuss how changes in lung cancer treatment have affected the provision of palliative care. They found that patients living with advanced lung cancer, who are treated with newer therapies (e.g., immunotherapy or targeted therapy), may have different palliative care needs than people treated with cytotoxic chemotherapy.
