Spotlight On: Palliative Care Leadership Centers

February 28, 2015 | By CAPC Staff

When running a palliative care program, common obstacles often arise.

Understanding how to effectively budget, staff and build to reach the growing demand for services can be a difference maker in the success of a program. Fortunately, teams no longer have to reinvent the wheel in order to avoid setbacks. Since 2004, Palliative Care Leadership Centers™ (PCLCs) have been supporting, training, and mentoring palliative care teams across the United States to help them adequately meet the needs of patients living with serious illness.

Established by the Center to Advance Palliative Care and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, PCLCs have trained well over half of the nation’s palliative care programs. PCLCs provide intensive, operational hands-on training and yearlong mentoring for programs at every stage of development and growth. For those just starting a program, PCLC training will result in less ramp-up time and a more efficient, cost-effective program. For established programs, the PCLC curriculum will help ensure sustainability and growth.

The PCLCs represent diverse settings including health systems, hospices, academic medical centers, cancer centers, children′s hospitals, VA and safety-net hospitals. Click here to choose the PCLC that′s right for you.
