Health At Home, a caregiving service provider for the elderly being piloted in Thailand, is bringing attention to advancements in technology available for palliative care patients in the home. The program, which currently provides its service in the Bangkok area, has enlisted 119 caregivers in its system. They are on call from patients through a mobile app.

Dr Kanapon Phumratprapin, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of this program, sees this as an opportunity to care for the increasing number of elderly people in Thailand. So far the program has catered to 41 households as it gains momentum.

“Hospitals are designed for curative treatments, not the seriously-ill elderly,” says Dr. Phumratprapin. “Being in a hospital also entails huge expenditure. Home care should be the right answer for elderly individuals who need long-term care [for non-communicable diseases],” he added. Click here to read the full story.
