Palliative care is often not referred at time of diagnosis among patients with advanced cancer, survey results show.

An article published in Oncology Nursing News describes findings from a survey of oncologists, which revealed that patients living with cancer are not regularly referred for mental health and palliative care services based on their identified needs. Per the study's authors, "There are opportunities for expanded provider education and to equip oncologists with better data and analytics, to improve timely use of palliative care in patients with advanced cancer."
