Mobile Application-Based Communication Facilitation Platform for Family Members of Critically Ill Patients
Researchers of a recent study published in JAMA Network Open realized the unmet and racially disparate palliative care needs, common in intensive care unit (ICU) settings. Due to this, they tested the effect of a palliative care intervention (via mobile application) vs. regular care provided in the ICU. The study found that the use of this mobile application reduced unmet palliative care needs, suggesting that a mobile-based intervention is a promising way for ICU clinicians to directly address palliative care needs of their patients within the ICU setting.
