A study presented at the 2024 ASCO Annual Meeting examined recommendations for cancer-related symptoms generated from ChatGPT with guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), which are typically endorsed by clinicians. Results showed that while ChatGPT provides concise, accessible, supportive care advice, discrepancies with guidelines raise concerns for patient-facing symptom management recommendations. Authors suggest health care providers should work with AI developers to ensure data sources are high-quality and accurate.
