Expanding the Palliative Care Workforce during the COVID-19 Pandemic with Health Social Workers
A study published in the Journal of Palliative Medicine, explains what one New York City hospital did to understand health social workers level of frequency, competence, and confidence in using palliative care skills. Among survey respondents who had received core palliative care training before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a "moderate improvement" in multiple skills, suggesting a tie between educational initiatives and an improvement in SW use of acquired skills.
