Results of study reveal criteria that may be useful in standardizing specialty palliative care access for patients with advanced heart failure.

In an article published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, authors Yuchieh Kathryn Chang, DO, et al. shared the results of a Delphi study of international experts, who identified consensus referral criteria for specialist palliative care for patients living with advanced heart failure. Participants reached a consensus on twenty-five criteria for specialist palliative care referral, which were categorized into six topics, which could be used to standardize palliative care access in both the inpatient and/or outpatient settings.
