Drew A Rosielle MD, FAAHPM is an associate professor in the Departments of Family Medicine & Community Health and Internal Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
Dr. Rosielle attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. He completed a Palliative Medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was the fellowship program director from 2008-2010. He was the program director of the University of Minnesota Hospice & Palliative Medicine fellowship from 2010-2018, and the medical director of the M Health Fairview palliative care program from 2018-2022.
Dr. Rosielle’s interests are in promoting evidence-based medicine in palliative care and helping health professionals communicate with empathy and clarity. He is an editor of Fast Facts and Concepts, an online series of short, peer-reviewed, palliative care monographs. He founded Pallimed, an award-winning palliative care blog, is on the editorial board of the Journal of Palliative Medicine and has lectured & taught widely on evidence-based palliative care and healthcare communication. Dr. Rosielle has been a faculty member for the Center to Advance Palliative Care’s Palliative Care Leadership Centers, and a facilitator for multiple communication programs including Vitaltalk, PalliTalk, Ariadne Labs’ Serious Illness Care, and REDE to Communicate. He is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine’s Hospice and Palliative Medicine board examination item approval committee.
Dr. Rosielle is the recipient of the 2009 American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Community Leadership Award, a 2012 Hastings Center Cuniff-Dixon early-career physician award, a 2017 University of Minnesota Medical Center Medical Staff Award for clinical education, and a 2025 American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine Visionary Award.
