Episode 4

In this episode, we are joined by Sherika Newman, DO, director of palliative medicine at Emory St. Joseph's Hospital, in Atlanta, Georgia.

When she joined the team in 2014, there were 6 consults on their charts; by the end of 2016, there were 2,200. While this is remarkable growth, Dr. Newman shares her growing pains and the things that she did to be successful, such as working with referring physicians to build a bridge between specialties in order to find the right consults. Dr. Newman also shares tips on managing staff wellness, how important data was for gaining support and buy-in from her organization.
