Beyond the Code: Navigating the Chaos of Resuscitation
A seasoned Physician Associate with nearly 25 years of healthcare experience, Tracey, is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals facing serious illness. She has been on the medical staff at RWJUH-New Brunswick for nearly her entire career, providing care in the emergency department, as a hospitalist and as a member of the inpatient palliative care team for the past 5 years.
Tracey has a particular professional interest in embedded palliative care within the emergency department, where early, values-based conversations can meaningfully change patient and clinician experience. She is deeply committed to educating emergency medicine clinicians, with a special focus on residents, physician associates, and nurse practitioners, to build confidence and skill in serious illness communication, symptom management, and shared decision-making. She is passionate about normalizing conversations around death and dying and works to expand access to compassionate, high-quality palliative care across healthcare settings. Through national speaking engagements, inter-professional education, and collaborative initiatives, Tracey advocates for a healthcare system that supports both patients and the clinicians who care for them.
