Alice Bass

Alice Bass, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC, FPCN

Alice Bass, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC, FPCN, is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with the Advanced Illness Management (AIM) Team and a Nursing Professional Practice Specialist at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She earned her BA in Microbiology from Miami University and her MSN from Boston College, where she completed a subspecialty focus in pediatric palliative care. She is board certified as a Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

A pediatric palliative care clinician since 2014, Alice has focused on advancing clinical care, education, quality improvement, and clinical informatics. She helped establish ELNEC-Pediatric education at Nationwide Children's and has contributed to the training of more than 600 nurses and interdisciplinary clinicians since 2016. She has served as ELNEC Pediatric National Faculty since 2024.

Alice is a Fellow in Palliative Care Nursing (FPCN), an honor awarded by the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) in recognition of her contributions to the field. She has held several leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the HPNA Pediatric Special Interest Group from 2017–2025, and currently serves as Chair of the Nationwide Children's Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Council. She is also a member of Epic's Palliative Care Steering Board and a certified Epic Provider Builder, with particular interests in pediatric palliative care documentation, quality improvement, and leveraging health information technology to improve patient care.

In her current role, Alice supports strategic nursing and advanced practice initiatives that promote knowledge sharing, evidence-based practice, and standardization of care. Alice's goals are to embrace all her passions to hopefully contribute to the national knowledge that can help push the fields of pediatric palliative care, nursing, and advanced practice forward.
