The CAPC National Seminar brings together 850 palliative care professionals from across the country—program leaders, clinicians, and administrators working to improve care for people living with serious illness. We're looking for Ohio-based palliative care professionals to help shape the experience from the inside.

Why this Committee Exists

Attendees come to the Seminar to gain practical tools, explore innovative solutions, and connect with peers shaping the future of the field. The Host Committee makes the Seminar feel rooted in Columbus, not just held there. Members serve as local advisors, connectors, and ambassadors, helping create an experience that reflects the strength of the local palliative care community.

We're forming a volunteer committee of approximately 10 professionals who together represent the full interprofessional palliative care team (physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, administrators, and other team members) from across Ohio.

What You'll Contribute

The majority of the Host Committee’s work happens in advance. This is a role for connectors and advisors, not day-of logistics staff. Example responsibilities include:

  • Recommend and connect the planning team with local speakers for Seminar programming
  • Recommend and connect with a Columbus-based palliative care program for a program site visit
  • Share ideas for local sponsors, in-kind donors, and exhibitors
  • Share ideas or make connections for an off-site event
  • Recommend or connect with a local nonprofit for a community service activity
  • Promote the Seminar within your professional network
  • Serve as a host during the opening reception and/or attendee registration, welcoming 850 peers to your city

Time Commitment and Logistics

The committee is led by Melissa Scholl and Stephanie Leung, who will support and coordinate all committee activities. Planning meetings will be held every other month over Zoom, starting with a kick-off meeting in Q3 2026. More intensive coordination will happen in the 60 days prior to the conference.

What You'll Gain

  • National visibility: Recognition among 850 peers as a Seminar host
  • Recognition: Named in conference materials and special recognition at the conference
  • Early access: Preview programming before it's announced publicly
  • Professional development: Direct connection with Seminar speakers and leadership
  • $200 registration discount: On full Seminar registration for committee members
