Hospice & Palliative Medicine Physicians: Multiple Current & Anticipated Openings Across Kentucky
Bluegrass Care Navigators and Hosparus Health are seeking physicians to join our Hospice & Palliative Medicine programs across Kentucky. We have multiple current openings in Central and Eastern Kentucky and the Louisville area, with additional physician needs anticipated over the next two years due to retirements and transitions.
The Positions-Opportunities vary by location and may include:
• Community-based Hospice & Palliative Care
• Inpatient Hospice & Palliative Medicine
• A combination of in-person and telehealth care
• Hospice attending and consultative responsibilities
• Collaboration with Nurse Practitioners, community physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams
Current practice locations include Lexington, Hazard, Barbourville/Pikeville, and Louisville, with responsibilities, schedules, and call expectations varying by position.
Most roles offer a Monday–Friday schedule with shared weekday, evening, and/or weekend call responsibilities.
Responsibilities-Depending on the position, responsibilities may include:
• Providing direct hospice and palliative care to patients with serious or advanced illness
• Serving as a hospice attending physician
• Conducting in-person and telehealth visits
• Performing medically necessary visits and recertifications
• Managing pain and other symptoms
• Consulting and collaborating with community physicians and advanced practice providers
• Participating in interdisciplinary care planning
• Completing certifications, medical documentation, and other required physician responsibilities
• Participating in call coverage as assigned
Qualifications-Requirements vary by position and practice setting:
M.D. or D.O. and Kentucky medical licensure, or eligibility for licensure, are required.
Hospice & Palliative Medicine fellowship training and board certification are preferred or required for select positions.
