Job Summary The Connecticut Hospice, America's first hospice is seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, highly experienced and dedicated Associate Medical Director to help lead our healthcare team in this hands-on role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, and healthcare management. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills who is prepared to act as an engaged member of an interdisciplinary team, with oversight of clinical practices, compliance and quality improvement initiatives. The Associate Medical Director will also be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and supporting research initiatives within the organization and will make decisions in absence of the Medical Director.
Responsibilities
• Assist with oversight and provision of care on the Inpatient Unit (Hospice and Acute Care), Home Health, GUIDE and Palliative Care programs, and monitor clinical operations of the hospital to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Develop and assist with implementation of policies and procedures that comply with HIPAA regulations and other healthcare standards.
• Supervise medical staff, providing guidance and support in clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate with management to enhance utilization management strategies and improve overall healthcare delivery.
• Lead research initiatives aimed at advancing medical practices and improving patient outcomes.
• Manage projects related to healthcare services, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
• Monitor clinical performance metrics and implement quality improvement programs as needed.
• In concert with the Medical Director, serve as a liaison between the hospital administration, medical staff, and other stakeholders.
• Share on-call responsibilities with medical team members.
Requirements
• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Board certification in a relevant specialty is preferred.
• Hospice and Palliative care focused experience.
• Extensive experience in hospital settings with a focus on patient care and healthcare management.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with managed care principles.
• Proven experience in project management within a healthcare environment.
• Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
• Strong analytical skills to assess clinical data and drive decision-making processes.
• Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality and ethical practice.
