Description
The Henry Ford Medical Group’s Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is seeking a physician to join our team as a Senior Staff Hospice Physician. This is a unique opportunity to serve a diverse patient population while contributing to a well-established, mission-driven program in Southeast Michigan.
Position Highlights
· Join a non-profit, hospital-based hospice with over 30 years of dedicated service to the Southeast Michigan community.
· Collaborate with a seasoned interdisciplinary team committed to high-quality, patient-centered care.
· Serve as faculty for our ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program (2 fellows/year).
· Practice at a respected academic institution affiliated with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine.
· Care for a diverse patient population across a variety of settings.
· Structured orientation and ongoing mentorship provided by the Hospice Medical Director.
· Depending on interests and skills, there may be opportunities to provide coverage for inpatient hospice patients and perform palliative care consultations.
Key Responsibilities
· With support from the Hospice Medical Director, lead the medical oversight of hospice patient care services.
· In collaboration with the Hospice Medical Director, deliver educational seminars and outreach to health system and community clinicians to enhance awareness and access to hospice services.
· Collaborate with attending physicians and the interdisciplinary team to manage terminal illnesses, related conditions, and symptom distress.
· Conduct home visits when clinically appropriate and as requested by the care team.
· Apply expertise in prognostication and hospice regulations to assess eligibility, related diagnoses, and appropriate levels of care.
· Teach and mentor medical students, residents, fellows, and other learners.
· Engage in scholarly activities including education, quality improvement, and/or research.
Qualifications
· Initial board certification in a primary specialty.
· Board-certified or board-eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
· Completion of a Palliative Medicine Fellowship or equivalent experience.
· Demonstrated qualities of being self-directed, flexible, team-oriented, and committed to continuous learning.
