No Place to Call Home

Presented by Emily Chai, MD, and Jackie Peare, LMSW. October 2019. During this session, cases highlight the limited care options available for seriously ill patients at home. We will review what is available, highlight the limitations of our current system, and identify the challenges that patients and families struggle with. For these patients, palliative care and hospice care are not enough if there is no one to help with custodial care; subacute rehabilitation is not a great option given prognosis; and nursing homes present financial constraints.
