One in four adults and 5.4 million children are providing care for a friend or family member in the U.S. today. And while the majority of caregivers find purpose in this role, far too many also face emotional, physical, financial, and practical challenges, often without assistance. This impacts not only the caregiver’s well-being but can also impact the patient’s care.

Health care organizations are in the best position to provide meaningful support to family caregivers. Indeed, several pioneering hospitals have demonstrated positive outcomes from their Caregiver Support Programs, benefiting caregivers, patients, clinicians, employers, communities, and their own organizations. The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) is working to disseminate their best practices among health care organizations across the country.

CAPC’s Caregiver Support Initiative currently features the guidance and learning opportunities below. Check back to find additional educational resources over time.
