When Caregivers Need Care, Hospitals are Responding
An AARP article highlights how some hospitals are beginning to see family caregivers as essential partners in care, offering training, counseling, and resources to help them prepare for complex care responsibilities and transitions after discharge. The article highlights the Steven S. Elbaum Family Center for Caregiving at Mount Sinai and the release of CAPC's Caregiver Support Program Implementation toolkit (developed in partnership with Mount Sinai), which aims to help hospitals and other health care organizations design, launch, and grow evidence-based, financially sustainable caregiver support programs. Per the article, these efforts aim to better equip caregivers with the skills and confidence they need to support loved ones after a hospital stay.
