In an study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, researchers aimed to identify the delivery of specialty palliative care in Medicare beneficiaries living with metastatic cancer. Through the development and validation of a simple claims-based algorithm, they found that it can identify whether patients received palliative care with reasonable accuracy in population-level claims data.
