Unseen, Unrelenting, and Uncertain: Caregiver-Identified Targets for Pediatric Palliative Care
An article published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management aimed to identify key challenges faced by parent caregivers of children with medical complexity (CMC) that can be addressed through pediatric palliative care's expertise in communication. Researchers grouped caregiving challenges reported during parent interviews into three axes (the “3 U’s”): being unseen in their care work; managing unrelenting caregiving responsibilities with limited support; and facing uncertainty about the future for their child and family—highlighting important areas for pediatric palliative care intervention.
