The John A. Hartford Foundation Releases Results from Poll on Dementia Care
Results from a recent Age-Friendly Insights Poll by The John A. Hartford Foundation highlight that adults aged 50 and older overwhelmingly support policies that enhance care for people with dementia, and their caregivers. This includes wanting support for family caregiving and workforce benefits related to dementia care.
Some of the findings are included below:
- Strong Support for Caregiver Policies, with 92% favoring government-funded training for better dementia care, and 91% supporting payment for in-home assistance or respite care
- Care Preferences and Concerns, with 96% concerned about being a burden on family and friends, and 94% emphasizing the importance of being able to pay for care
- Role of Health Care Providers, with 56% saying they would consult their primary care provider first for memory concerns
